PRODUCTION
Here I will document my progress over the course of this unit. Explaining any decisions I make and the steps I take after.
Pitch
After coming up with some interesting ideas for my documentary - I needed to impress a panel so that my ideas can be greenlit and I can start digging into the production. Due to my situation and limited resources, I was not able to speak with them over a call or show myself to them - so I worked around this problem to make a
Production Plan
Now that my pitch was over with and my ideas greenlit - it was now time for me to construct my production plan. Originally we were told to begin our productions schedules before creating our pitch, but I normally put a lot of detail into my plans and so a lot of those details would depend on which of my ideas was greenlit (I had different structures for each doc).
Since my demolition idea was a favourite of the panel - I had to now figure out the order I would film in
On the timeline you may notice that I have skipped all Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays - this is because we usually took Wednesday and the weekends off. Yes, currently there is a pandemic and even if I'm not walking into the college I could still do some work while I'm at home - but in my house I have three younger siblings who also need to work. My parents aren't used to all this homeschooling and so loose their patience if the primary kids don't understand - so I decided to stick to my days off and help them with English and Art work. I'm also using the weekends too so that I can talk to my online friends and doing various activities (because staying in one place for so long gets agitating). However, if a time comes during this project that I use one of my days off for work - then I will put that day on the timeline.
Researching
Before jumping into a documentary, I need to first look for techniques and inspiration from other documentaries. The inspiration I am looking for is a film about demolition or about being in a dangerous job. However, after searching YouTube, I have been unable to find any dramatic documentaries that talk about the dangers and hard work - only showing the progress of destroying a building. I then decided to settle on documentaries from other jobs that are life-threatening - after all, this documentary is supposed to tell the story of the interviewee and is only partly focused on what kind of job it is.
